LO2 Proposal for Audio-Visual Promo

This finished product would be a complete music video for the song ‘You Don’t Down Me’ by Elizabeth Gillies. This video will give the lyrics a visual product to create the narrative of the lyrics of the song in a visual form.

Target Audience  KC

For this visual product the target audience is for mid to older teenage audience and for all genders. These lyrics and the audio visual that will be made would be for all types of people. However, the music video includes revealing clothing and the idea of a girl that struggles to love and a boy that wants her to accept his love. Audiences that may find the sight of the narrative offensive or may find the narrative against people's religions and beliefs may not want to watch the visual product.

Purpose  EB

The purpose of this visual product is to promote the artist ‘Elizabeth Gillies’ and the genre of the song in a visual format. From creating this product, it will give us as students the experience and the skills to create, organise and develop a music video from a new idea.

Content  KC/EB

The content for this music video will include Mise-en-scene, camerawork and editing, these techniques will help to create the narrative of the song. The mise-en-scene that will be used will include costume, lighting, locations, blocking and props. The use of the costumes will be important because it will show the narrative, the costumes that ill be used will be revealing clothing for the girl and then a casual costume for the guy this is because in music videos females are sexualised for the attention of males. The lighting that will be used in this visual will be black and white lighting with a brighter light on that characters so they are visible to the audience. In the video the blocking is important because it helps the narrative come to life and to make it so that the lyrics of the song are brought to life. Some of the props tat will be used in this visual product will be a set of chains, which symbolises the idea of the girl feeling trapped in her emotions. The use of props is very important because it improves the quality of the video for it adds depth to the video. The camerawork for the video is important because it means that the video becomes more interesting for the audience and shows the skills and knowledge we have on camerawork. An example of the camera shot types we will be using are wide angles to show the location when they're on a date, an aerial shot to show the location changes. Close ups will also be used because they will show the characters reactions and the difference in their emotions for when the characters are together and when they are apart from one another, these details are important because they will add details to the narrative and create an emotional connection to the audience. The editing in this video will include flashbacks, rapid editing for the characters zoomed in then out continuously, the editing for this video will be non-continuous editing.

Competitors  KC

For this product the competitors that would have to be considered would be other music videos, artists and producers. Knowing the competition can help produce your product to a higher standard because then a content analysis can be done to then analyse the competition and be able to improve the visual.

Goal  EB

The goal for this product is to gain knowledge and gain skills that are needed to create these types of products. The skills we hope to gain will be communication, teamwork and to develop our editing skills to make the music video professional and up to a high standard.

Resources and Personnel KC

For this music video we will have to ask for permission from the people we will be recording because the video will be published publicly, this then reduces the risk of being sued. We will also have to contact the locations that we will be filming at so that we can get permission to film at their locations. We will also have to contact the artist or the record label for permission to use their song for educational purposes and not for profit.

Editing software EB

The editing software that will be used is Adobe Premier Pro, for this is a good piece of software because it is easy to access, used to edit visuals with high quality footage and product creations.

Distribution KC

To distribute this product we will be using YouTube because it is one of the main platforms where music videos are distributed so the public can view it. We will also be distributing this product on social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook and twitter for these are the most used social media platforms for the target audience. From distributing the product on these platforms it means that the target audience can be reached easier because people who use social media often are aged 16-20 year olds.

Inspiration KC/EB

Some inspiration that we have used would be from the song 'Single Ladies' by Beyonce https://youtu.be/4m1EFMoRFvY. We are using this as inspiration because we like the idea of the listing changing through the video.
